I’m very excited about this race for two reasons. The first is that I race for the Trakkers/Rev3Tri team and love supporting their events. Secondarily, I grew up just north of Old Orchard Beach in Scarborough(10min) and the run course takes us on the Eastern Trail that I grew up running and biking on! The bike course even goes by my Uncle’s house way out near Dayton! Everyone will love the ride with it’s quiet roads and with only 800ft of elevation gain That may help us all with bike pr’s! The run will be awesome with over 7mi on the Eastern Trail including a few over the Scarborough marsh with all of it’s beauty! I was joking with my family today that it took a Half/70.3 race to get me back to Maine!
Revolution3 Triathlon is pleased to announce a brand new location for the 2012 season! On August 26, 2012 Rev3in partnership withOOB365, the local merchants’ association, will launch a new Olympic and Half Rev race in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Pro and age group athletes are invited to compete in both distances for cash prizes.
Half Rev race is a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run. Both swim legs will take place in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The bike course starts out flat and fast before taking riders into a series of rolling hills, giving them the chance to experience the beauty of the surrounding Maine farmland and countryside. Tall pine trees provide shade over much of the course, which winds through Saco, Dayton, Lyman, Waterboro, Hollis, and Old Orchard Beach. The run course is an out-and-back, giving athletes the chance to finish out the race on a flat and fast course that includes sweeping views of the Scarborough Marsh and over a portion of the storied Eastern Trail. Athletes will cross the finish line in downtown Old Orchard Beach.
